The selection of literature for read-aloud sessions within the app includes texts commonly used in middle school curricula. Adapted stories featured in the program encompass titles such as "Neighbors," "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes," "The Diary of Anne Frank," "We Beat the Streets," "The Outsiders," "Number the Stars," "Holes," and "Dragonwings."
The app incorporates elements of systematic instruction, including a constant time-delay procedure, a system of least intrusive prompts, and consistent feedback mechanisms. These features support structured teaching approaches tailored to learners' needs.
Support for research and development was partially provided through Contract ED-IES-13-C-0031 from the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences, awarded to Attainment Company, Inc.
